Test the five senses at Città dei Bambini

The experience museum dedicated to the 5 senses situated beneath the Genoa Aquarium
Albert Einstein is reported to have said that “Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school“—and he knew a thing or two about experiments and education.
The idea is that if you really want to learn something, you have to see it, hear it, touch it, smell it; in short, experience it yourself, with your own senses.
In Liguria, there is a place where every child can do just that: the new Città dei Bambini at Genoa‘s Old Port.
The venue comprises no less than 2,000 square metres of exhibition space, where children and young people aged 2 to 12 can take a real journey of discovery, exploring both themselves and the world through direct experience.
The new format is that of an experience museum, the first of its kind dedicated to the five senses in Italy. The Splash area, especially dedicated to children aged 2 to 4, is a protected section in which the children can move about freely and learn while having fun. The other areas, dedicated to the senses, offer installations suitable for all children but with varying degrees of complexity and learning objectives based on the age group of the users.
The installations can be enjoyed individually, in pairs or in small groups, depending on the theme addressed. Workshops for schools are held in the education area, and there is a special section dedicated to birthday parties and private events. Don’t miss out on the ‘House under Construction‘, one of the most popular installations in the previous Città dei bambini.
Access to the new experience museum is limited and visits last a maximum of 90 minutes. This enables visitors to make the best possible use of the exhibition spaces.
