Liguria’s trails
There are many trails in Liguria: spring and autumn are the right times to discover them!
Ancient routes and recovered paths. Devotional or cultural routes. Challenges to the passage of time and land consumption. Liguria’s trails bring together environments and worlds that are close but different, cultures and histories that are near but far.
And so? Backpack and map in hand, there are new territories to discover!
The Sea Sanctuaries Trail
An itinerary to discover the lesser-known Genoa that turns its back on the sea and lets you discover the natural beauty of Liguria. Six flexible stages passing through mountains, forests and historic villages amidst extraordinary views and glimpses that lead you to fully experience the spirituality of some of Liguria’s best-loved places of worship.

Antiche Vie del Sale
“Le vie del sale”, the salt routes of Liguria, take you back in time, into contact with pleasant places, culture and history. In the past, mules and carts loaded with salt travelled along them to bring this precious foodstuff to the Po Valley where it was in short supply. Today, these routes, cycle paths and trails between the Alps and the sea, pass through villages, parks and areas of great historical and natural value, recount the soul of the territory and are now perfect for trekking, mountain biking and outdoor activities. The “RivierALP” project aims to revitalise cross-border territories by creating an outdoor tourist area to bring life back to a fragile territory.

Alta via dei monti liguri
More than 400 km along the Ligurian Alps and Apennines between Ventimiglia and Sarzana to be tackled on foot or by mountain bike, 43 stages between snow-capped peaks and the blue sea
A route that runs over the mountains and touches the sky: the Alta via dei Monti Liguri is a set of paths and mule tracks, which can be travelled all year round, from one end to the other of the Ligurian Riviera from Ventimiglia to Ceparana, from the Province of Imperia to the Province of La Spezia.

The Trail of the Celts and Ligurians
There is a path between Lombardy and Liguria where you can travel through time. The Sentiero dei Celti e dei Liguri (Trail of the Celts and Ligurians) starts from the centre of Milan, a stone’s throw from the Duomo, and arrives at the seashore in Sestri Levante. You will cross bridges, sheep-tracks, abbeys; streams, forests, and enchanted mountains. And you will go back to the Middle Ages, through the age of the Roman Empire, back to the Punic Wars and even further: to the Ligurians, to the Celts. And then, around a bend, you suddenly discover the sea.

Cinque Terre a blend of panoramas and preservation
There are six undiscovered paths in the Cinque Terre, including ancient and little-trodden roads or country paths newly recovered by the park’s trail maintainers . An intelligent and alternative way to discover the Cinque Terre Park and to escape from the most crowded places (which, in any case, remain a stone’s throw away), to discover cultural and religious relics, and high-altitude settings that merge with coastal ones. Paths once used only for the grape harvest or stairways that, like a lift, lead from the sea to the gates of heaven.

The frontiers of taste: jumping between Italy and France with “cucina bianca”
The “Cucina bianca”, white cuisine, route is an eno-gastronomic itinerary that takes in the flavours of cattle drives, through the Park of the Ligurian Alps, which runs between Liguria and Piedmont with a natural completion in La Brigue – in the Department of the French Maritime Alps and in Briga Alta, which is now in the Province of Cuneo. In Liguria, it links the Ligurian municipalities of Cosio d’Arroscia, Pornassio, Triora, Mendatica and Montegrosso Pian Latte. The watershed of this territory is the peak of Monte Saccarello, the highest point in Liguria and since 1947 the administrative boundary between the provinces of Imperia and Cuneo, the state border between Italy and France (Department of the Maritime Alps), and the cultural boundary between the Ligurian, Brigasque and Piedmontese areas.
