The best walks? Here are 4 unmissable Ligurian ones!
Here are four unmissable Ligurian walks, including historic seafront promenades, nature trails and VIP spots.
The Anita Garibaldi Walk
The Anita Garibaldi Walk of Genoa Nervi is the place where Genoese women go when they want to start or end their day well. The sunrises from this elegant seafront are captivating, the sunsets spectacular. On one side, to the west, the Nervi Marina; on the other, to the east, the Parks with their green foliage. Walk along it until you find the plaque dedicated to her and one for the Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva, a brilliant and unfortunate Russian poet, who spent time here as a child, from November 1902 to May 1903. It is no coincidence that this place, once a path for fishermen and farmers, has become an actual seaside promenade named after one of the most important women of Liguria and Italy, Anita Garibaldi, or Ana Maria de Jesus Ribeiro, wife of Giuseppe Garibaldi, known as the “heroine of two worlds”. The two met in Brazil during a popular uprising and from then on she followed him and took part in all his missions, fighting with him until the tragic experience of the Roman Republic, and dying, exhausted, during the retreat near Comacchio on 4 August 1849.

Between Pilgrims and Brigands – the Capo Noli Loop along the Pilgrim’s Path
A beautiful circular itinerary between Capo Noli and Varigotti, along paths always overlooking the Riviera di Ponente. A seamless viewpoint that fills the mind with wonder, located amidst an extremely interesting historical and artistic setting.
The excursion winds along ancient travel and trade routes taken by the powerful Maritime Republic of Noli, punctuated along their route by numerous churches, votive chapels and hermitages that were once pilgrimage destinations and are still largely open to visitors today.
A simple but fascinating trip, along windswept paths surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, from where, as Eugenio Montale wrote, “to observe the distant pulsating of sea scales among the branches”.

From Sestri Levante to Riva Trigoso passing through Punta Manara
A bridge between two seaside villages. An elevator to a paradise among the olive trees. The walk between Sestri Levante and Riva Trigoso is a Ligurian gem: two quaint villages; a path through olive trees, pines and Mediterranean scrub; an ancient watchtower overlooking the sea and an extraordinary traditional dish, the anchovy bagnun.
You start from the alleyways of Sestri Levante. The route is well signposted so you won’t get lost. The route isn’t difficult but it’s advisable to wear comfortable shoes as it quickly becomes a dirt road and feels like you’re leaving civilization behind, only to then reveal the panorama of Sestri Levante in all its beauty.

From Rapallo to the small square of Portofino
From an ancient castle on the sea to the symbol of elegance and refinement, stringing together, one after the other, the extraordinary pearls of the Gulf of Tigullio: Rapallo, San Michele di Pagana, Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino
From Rapallo to Portofino, an 8 km walk overlooking the sea, which passes places now in the collective imagination such as Paraggi, a small bay framed by green hills, located on the Riviera di Levante on the Portofino Promontory, or the beach of Niasca until reaching the characteristic square of Portofino, frequented by the world’s jet-set. Those who want to carry on walking can continue to Castello Brown and then on towards the lighthouse, a sentinel stretching out towards the sea.
