Dark Autumn

The west part of Liguria is overflowing with tales of spirits, witches, and ghosts: even in Dolceacqua, dark stories are told, such as the spells of the witch Saga, from whom, according to legend, the name Dolceacqua (“Dus-Saga”) is derived. Starting on 11st April, the Autunnonero storytellers will lead the Ghost Tour through the narrow streets of the Téra district, the oldest heart of the village: from the Old Bridge to the Doria Castle, narrating stories of pagan myths, witch trials, bloodshed, and ghostly tales. In Triora  in 1588, several women from Triora were victims of one of the bloodiest witchcraft trials in Liguria. Everything is documented in the documents on display at the Ethnographic and Witchcraft Museum.

The creative direction is by Andrea Scibilia’s Autunnonero, under the patronage of the Municipality of Dolceacqua and in collaboration with its Cultural and Recreational Centre.
