The exhibition

The museum’s most highly treasured traditional nativity scenes will be on display. Natale in luce is a dynamic exhibition that blends history and creativity and opens with Franco Curti’s mechanical nativity scene, built in the 1930s and still in perfect condition. New scenes have been introduced this year. You can admire:

  • The artistic dressed wooden figurines from Anton Maria Maragliano’s famous workshop, which will transport you to the elegant and opulent Baroque Genoa;
  • The Albisola statuesand papier-mâché figurines that recount the most authentic and genuine popular devotion;
  • The village of dreams, a nativity scene to explore room by room, combining the fantasy of an imaginary Ligurian village with the tradition of the Santons of Provence.
  • In addition to the nativity scenes, the exhibition will have a valuable selection of the paintings that accompanied the daily life and prayers of the monks.
