Nel tempo del Déco. Albisola 1925 at the Ceramics Museum of Savona
Curated by Donatella Ventura and Stella Cattaneo and promoted on the occasion of the centenary of the Exposition Internationaledes Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes of Paris in 1925, with the patronage of the Municipality of Savona and of AICC Italian Association of Ceramic Cities, it is the most complex project so far dedicated to this original ceramic presentation of Art Déco. It exhibits over 300 period artefacts in dialogue with the contemporary works of Andrea Salvatori, protagonist as a collector as well as an artist.
What is the Albisola 1925 style?
In the Albisola 1925 style, the subjects are inspired by nature and reinterpret it: leaves, flowers and animal figures are highly stylised, the contours are defined and made clear, the nuances are cancelled out until they become, in some cases, pure graphic elements. In the Savona area, and particularly in Albisola, it found one of its most important and powerful centres, thanks in particular to an artist such as Manlio Trucco, ceramist and painter.
