Ancient trails TREK … discovering the Liguria you don’t expect

Discover the wildest part of Val di Vara, known as the organic valley. Amidst crops and unspoilt nature, dense woods, high-altitude meadows overlooking the sea, rocky ridges, rugged canyons, valley floor clearings, ancient villages and the legacy of archaic human settlement, these paths branch off from what was once the ancient highway of Liguria: the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri. The various itineraries include archaeological sites that recall the presence of ancient Ligurian populations, Bronze and Iron Age settlements, 11th and 12th century castles, but also cobblestone roads and mule tracks from the early 20th century, small chapels, Roman bridges, medieval villages and abandoned stone villages. We want to take you to discover a hidden corner of Liguria where time seems to have stood still. You will be a pioneer of newly restored “ancient paths”: main communication routes in the past, unexplored for years, which today, thanks to local volunteers, are being revealed to us once again. Wherever there are traces!
