Caving in the Rugli Cave (Buggio – IM)
In the hinterland of Imperia, an engaging and exciting experience for those who love adventure and challenges. The cave ascends “against the current” following the path carved by ancient waters on the slopes of Mount Toraggio.
Water is the defining element of this excursion, encountered right from the entrance and in two small siphon lakes on the beginner’s route (the cave is still being explored and has other siphons).
The Rugli Caves’ charm also stems from the erosion patterns that have shaped its galleries, which also contain concretions (stalactites, stalagmites, draperies, etc.).
TIME:
Approach: 25 minutes on trail
Cave visit: approximately 3 hours
Return: 20 minutes on trail
LEVEL: intermediate, suitable for first-time visitors
