CONNEXXION: Diffusion Festival of Contemporary Art in Savona
The CONNEXXION Festival transforms the city of Savona into a widespread contemporary art museum until April 27th, 2024.
The festival, titled CONNEXXION Festival – a dispersed festival of art, brings performances, talks, exhibitions, installations, and creativity centrered around the themes of memory and freedom until the 27th April, 2024. Functioning like a true dispersed contemporary art museum, the festival sheds new light on Savona’s significant places, reinterpreting its historical and artistic heritage through the eyes and visions of today’s artists.
Now in its second edition, the Festival, made possible with the support and sponsorship of the Municipality of Savona, the contribution of the Liguria Region, and the Agostino De Mari Foundation, carries the subtitle “…to be free. Between identity and memory,” aiming to reflect on the concept of freedom in a world increasingly influenced by nationalism and authoritarian tendencies.
Notably, there is a special tribute to Sandro Pertini with the exhibition “Dialogues on Freedom” at the Sandro Pertini and Renata Cuneo Museum. Another exhibition, “Fragments. Acts of preservation for a future of freedom,” curated by Livia Savorelli and Matteo Galbiati, is displayed at the Civic Archaeological Museum, featuring works by Roberto Ghezzi, Alberto Gianfreda, Laura Pugno, Attilio Tono, and Ivano Troisi.
From April 20 to 27, 2024, an additional segment of the Festival will take place inside the former Sant’Agostino Prison, animated by site-specific installations, performances, talks, and moments of discussion.
Furthermore, until January 6th, 2024, the Commissioner’s Palace (Priamar Fortress) hosts an exhibition showcasing the works of finalists from the national art competition Arteam Cup 2023, curated by Livia Savorelli and Matteo Galbiati.
