Get flour at the Gramizza Mill! Visit to the Gramizza Mill, with souvenirs
The Gramizza Mill is an ancient water mill that continues in the traditional way grinding high quality flour from natural products grown in the d’Aveto Valley and in the neighbouring Piacenza mountains. Liliana and her son Daniele, the owner of the farm, will welcome you into their realm and show you, depending on the season, how they grind wheat, maize, spelt, chickpeas or chestnuts (in November you can also visit the ‘grae’, the traditional drying house where chestnuts are dried and then turned into flour). The same wheel that drives the millstones also operates a sawmill, which can also be visited. At the end of the visit, you will be given a valuable and healthy souvenir: a trio of flours (white wheat, whole wheat, maize) with which to make your own bread, savoury and sweet pies and an excellent polenta at home.
