Andersen Festival 2024

The Andersen Festival, a festival that transforms Liguria into a fairy tale, will take place from June 5th to 9th, 2024.

Giocare al futuro” (Playing in the Future) will be the theme of the 27th Andersen Festival: the city will turn into a magical and surprising place, brought to life by international artists offering a rich programme of various performances. Claudia Gerini will be the festival’s special guest this year.

The Festival

Hans Christian Andersen, the famous Danish fairy tale writer known for stories such as “The Little Mermaid” discovered the bay of Sestri Levante during a trip to Liguria and fell in love with it.
Since 1967, the Andersen-Baia delle Favole Prize, named after him, has been one of the longest-running and most famous literary competitions in Italy and abroad. It is dedicated to unpublished fairy tales and is open to everyone: children, professional and amateur writers, and those who love to tell stories through illustrations.
On the occasion of the awards ceremony, the 27th Andersen Festival, the most important Italian festival dedicated to fairy tales and theatre, is held annually in Sestri Levante. The 57th edition of the Andersen-Baia delle Favole Prize will take place from June 5th to 9th.
