Landing of the Saracens

The Landing of the Saracens is one of the most entertaining and evocative historical re-enactments in Liguria.

It takes place every year in Laigueglia and recreates a historical event that really happened in the 16th century.

The fearsome Saracen pirates, led by the ferocious Dragut, landed on the shores of Laigueglia and put it to fire and sword.

During the evening, the participants in the event, divided into two camps, clash on the seashore by staging a foam ball battle.

In the background, a grandiose firework display over the sea, the eerie sound of beating drums and the fire devouring the defensive Bastion make the atmosphere even more suggestive.
