Between Sea and Mountains: The Marchesato Trail

The Marchesato Trail is a competitive trail running event that follows part of the Ermano Fossati trail.

It covers a route of 60km with a positive elevation gain of 3,000 metres, or 38km with an elevation gain of 2,200 metres, or even 16km with an elevation gain of 1,000 metres. The geographical area in question (limestone) has been recognised for years as one of the most beautiful locations in Italy for “extreme” outdoor activities such as sport climbing, freeriding, and downhill biking.

The course has been meticulously designed to encompass all the characteristics of mountain running and the most distinctive features of the territory: steep and challenging ascents, technical descents, fixed rope sections and a unique passage through a cave (in fact, there will be three caves), with the fantastic final part of the trail, inside the medieval castle of Finalborgo.

It will be a small athletic journey, for runners of all levels, into the history and culture of an ancient and glorious region.
