Christmas will officially arrive in Genoa on the 8th of December. Here is the programme for “Liguria, Christmas Lights 2024”.
The Ligurian Christmas will begin in Piazza De Ferrari. On Sunday 8th of December, starting at 5pm, the event “Liguria, Christmas Lights” will bring to the heart of Genoa a spectacular display of lights, colours, and Christmas songs.
The first highly anticipated event of the day will be the blessing of the nativity scene set up inside the Palazzo della Regione Liguria, followed by music and performances on stage. Around 6pm, it will be the turn of the 67 children from the Children’s Choir of the Teatro Carlo Felice, ready to delight the audience with some of the most beloved Christmas carols. During the medley, the buildings in the square will light up one by one, offering the audience a unique light show. Also in Piazza De Ferrari, visitors can admire the beautiful traditional Nativity scene of Regione Liguria, set up with statues from the Church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo in Genoa Staglieno, placed next to the main entrance of the Regione Liguria building..
After the speech by the authorities, around 6:15pm, the unmissable countdown will mark the lighting of the Christmas tree, which will stand tall just steps away from the Palazzo della Regione until the 8th of January 2025. Following this, the songs performed by the choir and the music playing throughout the square will accompany this unforgettable day of celebration towards its conclusion, scheduled for 7pm.
