Here are the beaches for the season’s most refreshing swims to experience the thrill of winter plunges in Liguria.
Freezing weather, snow, or rain? No way. The group of “cimentisti,” enthusiasts of winter swims, is ready to dive into the waters of the Ligurian Sea. With a mix of fun, sport and physical wellness, winter swimming has now become a tradition between Christmas and Epiphany.
With no age limit, from the youngest to the oldest, diving into the icy waves between December and January is both a bold gesture and challenge. A swim in the clear waters of Ligurian beaches isn’t just a ritual but a great way to boost your immune system. After the plunge, there’s hot tea and chocolate for everyone!
Want to try it too? For 2024/25, the Nuotatori del Tempo Avverso association, led by Dr Roberto Giuria, has put together a schedule of winter swims. There are plenty of locations to choose from for the “ciumba.” As always, in addition to diving into the sea, you can explore the places hosting the events: villages, streets, squares, museums, events, and flavours to enjoy.
