Autumn Regattas in Liguria: From West to East, unmissable thrills on the sea
In Liguria, the wind is never lacking! Anyone looking for the best conditions for a regatta only has to choose: west or east? Here’s a small calendar of the most important races in different classes.
Winter Championship of Marina di Loano
Now in its seventh edition, the Winter Championship of Marina di Loano is organised by the Loano Nautical Club with the support of the title sponsor Marina di Loano and the Yacht Club Marina di Loano, under the patronage of the Municipality of Loano. The Championship will take place over six weekends, with one or more races held on each day, for a total of up to 24 races. Registration, valid for the entire championship, is open to vessels in the ORC and IRC categories, provided they have valid measurement certificates.
Currently, 42 boats are officially registered. The regatta schedule is as follows: 9-10 November 2024; 16-17 November; 7-8 December; 18-19 January 2025; 8-9 February; 15-16 February.

Cape 31 European Championship 2024
The Cape 31 is a 31-foot high-performance boat, designed for one-design racing and handicap racing. It was conceived by Lord Irvine Laidlaw, designed by Mark Mills, and built by a specialised shipyard in Cape Town. The Sanremo Yacht Club will celebrate its features during the Cape 31 European Championship, scheduled from the 7th to 10th of November 2024.

Regattas of the Circolo della Vela ERIX / Meteor Class
On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of November, the Circolo della Vela ERIX is organising a series of regattas in the Gulf of La Spezia dedicated to the Meteor class, one of the most popular sailing boats in Italy. Small and manoeuvrable, the Meteor was designed in 1968 by Dutch architect Van De Stadt to sail on Italian lakes and seas.
Dragon Winter Series, Leg 1 e Leg 2
The Dragon is the most widely used one-design racing boat in the world: designed by Johan Anker in 1929, it boasts over 80 years of history. The major Dragon regattas of today pass through Sanremo with the Dragon Winter Series, Leg 1 and Leg 2 on the 22nd-24th of November and then on the 13th-15th of December. The challenges on the waves of the Ligurian Sea will continue into 2025 with two legs on the 10th-12th of January and the 7th-9th of February, leading up to the Italian International Dragon Cup from the 20th-23rd of March.

Autumn in Regatta + Gorilla Gang Cup & Trofeo Statari – West Liguria Championship
On Saturday 30th of November and Sunday 1st of December, the waters of the Flower Riviera, between Ventimiglia and Sanremo, will host a new edition of the Gorilla Gang Cup, a regatta created to bring young people closer to the sea: two days of competitions and onshore events with an innovative format in a stretch of water that, just before winter, offers enviable climatic conditions compared to the rest of the peninsula.
