From Friday, August 2 to Sunday, August 4, the Genova Cup, a prestigious Futures-category wheelchair tennis tournament, will take place at the Valletta Cambiaso sports complex in Genoa.
The tournament
The Genova Cup at Valletta Cambiaso is the first Wheelchair Tennis event in Genoa and is part of the Uniqlo ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tour, which includes 160 tournaments worldwide with thousands of players. It will serve as an interesting warm-up ahead of the Paralympics. The event will feature both international and national athletes, such as Italians Luca Arca and Francesco Felici, with the top seed being French player Nicolas Charrier, ranked 31st in the world.
Wheelchair Tennis
It is called “Wheelchair Tennis,” a highly engaging sport with 506 registered players, 88 tournaments held, and 37 gatherings organised in the first six months of 2024.
