An unmissable event for trekking and hiking enthusiasts, the International Mare e Monti March in Arenzano on September 7th and 8th will be one of the best opportunities to discover the natural and scenic beauty of the Riviera del Beigua. After a visit to Insën, the local name for the town nestled between the sea and the Apennines, you can immerse yourself and become one with the diverse Ligurian ecosystem, featuring coastlines, cliffs, ferns, and rocks.

The event

Now in its 38th edition, the sporting event will be enhanced by activities and initiatives that will bring Arenzano to life, welcoming enthusiasts, curious visitors, long-time participants, and newcomers alike to the harbor, narrow streets, and historic villas along the seafront. There will be concerts, markets, and the traditional twinning with the city of Tata in Hungary. Don’t miss the chance for a tête-à-tête with the gastronomic specialties of this charming seaside village, from “Articiocche all’infernu” (typical stuffed artichokes) to “Buridda di pesce.” Here’s the schedule of the additional events.

The routes of the Mare e Monti

The event will feature routes of various lengths and types, carefully designed to suit the preferences of every participant. Even those who prefer to avoid significant elevation changes will find a great alternative in the ‘Riviera del Beigua’ routes, which follow the Fabrizio De André promenade along the coast, passing cliffs and Mediterranean scrub, and reaching the towns of Cogoleto and Varazze. Here are all the routes

The Mare e Monti, a non-competitive walk at your own pace, has been part of the IML Walking Association circuit since 2001, with the slogan “May walking bring us together”
