Slow Fish 2025
The grand festival of the sea and sustainable fishing is set to take place from the 1st to the 4th of June 2025 at Porto Antico, in the heart of Genoa.
Slow Fish and the Gourmets
As always, Slow Fish offers a range of activities for curious food enthusiasts, environmentalists, children, and families. Guided tastings delve into the event’s themes while stimulating the senses. Dishes crafted by renowned chefs allow us to savour the flavours of a mindful and environmentally respectful cuisine, showcasing the excellence of local ingredients. At the Market, you’ll find producers and a real kitchen where quick and varied dishes are prepared daily. Head to Piazza delle Feste for the Pizza & Bread Workshop and the Wine Bar. Visitors can also explore delicious specialities in the Beer and Street Food area.
The Environmental Challenge
The greatest challenges facing the sea are climate change and its impact on the marine environment, pollution caused by plastic, microplastics, and other chemicals, damage from human activities in coastal areas and natural habitats, overfishing that is driving some fish species to the brink of extinction, such as bluefin tuna, and the role of women in fishing.
Slow Fish curiosities from around the world
Many international delegations represent countries from the Mediterranean, Central and Latin America, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and South Africa. Among the highlights are the heirs of South Korea’s mermaids – women who dive 15–20 metres deep to fish and hold their breath for over two minutes – and the Turkish representatives from Gökova Bay, who organise a gastronomic festival focused on invasive species, which has led to nearly a 200% increase in the income of fishing cooperatives.
