The Season of Carlo Felice

The season at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa will open with The Turn of the Screw, on October 12th 2024. Performances will then continue non-stop until June 21st 2025.

From the story by Henry James, translated and adapted by Carlo Sciaccaluga, the season opens on October 12th with The Turn of the Screw (Il Giro di Vite), a new production by the Teatro Nazionale di Genova in collaboration with the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova.

Starting on Friday, 15th November, Lucia di Lammermoor, a tragic drama in three acts by Gaetano Donizetti, will be staged. Francesco Ivan Ciampa will conduct the Orchestra and Chorus of the Opera Carlo Felice, with direction by Lorenzo Mariani.

From Friday, 13th December, the musical farce in four acts, Il cappello di paglia di Firenze by Nino Rota, will be performed. Giampaolo Bisanti will lead the Orchestra and Chorus of the Opera Carlo Felice, under the direction of Damiano Michieletto.

The year concludes with The Nutcracker, a ballet in two acts by Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij, based on the story Nußknacker und Mausekönig, starting on December 21st.

The 2025 Carlo Felice Season

Starting on January 12th 2025, La Traviata, a melodrama in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, will be performed in the production by the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice. The musical direction will be by Renato Palumbo, with stage direction by Giorgio Gallione.

Andrea Chénier, a historical drama in four scenes by Umberto Giordano with a libretto by Luigi Illica, will be on stage from Thursday, 6th of February. It will be conducted by Donato Renzetti, one of the most esteemed conductors of the Italian school, with stage direction by Pier Francesco Maestrini.

A grand finale!

The final part of the season begins on March 7th with Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi: Riccardo Minasi will return to conduct, with direction by Damiano Michieletto.
From April 6th, Die Liebe der Danae (The Love of Danae), a three-act mythological comedy by Richard Strauss with a libretto by Joseph Gregor, will be staged. Fabio Luisi will conduct.

Carmen, the opéra-comique in four acts by Georges Bizet with a libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, will open on May 16th. Donato Renzetti will be the conductor and musical director, with direction by Emilio Sagi.

The season will close with Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute), a singspiel in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: conducted by Giancarlo Andretta, directed by Daniele Abbado, with sets by Lele Luzzati.
