Trofeo Laigueglia: The Classic Talent-Discovering Cycling Race

The race that discovers talents and marks the beginning of the cycling season. The 61st edition of the Trofeo Laigueglia will take place on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024. 

It has always been the race that kicks off the season. It is the first true challenge among cycling greats worldwide, a historic race that many aspire to have in their palmares, taking place a few weeks before the Milano-Sanremo. And the setting is worthy of the greats: the sunny and blooming roads of the Riviera delle Palme. 

The 2024 Race

The Trofeo Laigueglia, a historic cycling race on the hills of Laigueglia and Alassio, which recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, will take place on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024. Once again, the Ligurian Riviera will be a key player in the spectacle. 

The Course

The racecourse is challenging and spectacular: starting and finishing in Laigueglia, covering a total of 201 km with two Mountain Prizes up to 80 km from the finish (Paravenna at km 68 and Testico at km 122). Descending to Albenga, along Aurelia to Alassio, and returning to Laigueglia: at 44 km from the finish, a final circuit of about 11 km will begin, featuring the climbs of Colla Micheri and Capo Mele, repeated a total of 4 times.

Who will have their name inscribed on the honor roll under the year 2024? Among the illustrious past winners are Merckx, Dancelli, Bitossi, Baronchelli, Maertens, De Vlaeminck, Saronni, Ballan, and Pozzato, the only one to win three times.
