Along the Coast of Flower Riviera
Leaving Borgo Foce and the village of Porto Maurizio in Imperia, we continue our journey west. Small beaches alternate with protective cliffs and brush. We then follow the Colombo promenade, passing the Prino River, and paddle through a protected marine area characterised by an extensive seabed meadow of oceanic seagrass (posidonia).
Continuing, we catch a glimpse of the hills that form the backdrop to San Lorenzo al Mare. The next stretch of sea, between Riva Ligure and Cipressa, is a protected site with corals, gorgonians, and the pervasive posidonia. We pass the Marina degli Aregai and reach Santo Stefano, then to Riva Ligure with its marina, and Arma di Taggia with its large beach.
Sanremo, our destination, is now close. It can be reached by paddling along small beaches and cliffs, passing the outer breakwater of Sanremo Portosole and the Old Port dominated by Forte di Santa Tecla. Among the noteworthy beaches in Sanremo are: Tre Ponti Beach and Costa di Capo Verde.
