Monte Gottero: From the Partisan Struggle to Mountain Bike Trails
Monte Gottero was the scene of one of the most significant battles for liberation. Today, it stands as a lasting testament to the sacrifice of the partisans from the IV Operational Zone of Liguria, the areas of Parma, Lunigiana, and neighboring regions.
The summit is located on the border between Liguria, Tuscany, and Emilia-Romagna and has always served as a point of reference and refuge for the inhabitants during times of danger.
In 2018, the “Anelli del Gottero” or “Rings of Gottero” were inaugurated, offering trails immersed in the greenery, perfect for hikers and bikers. During the itinerary, you can immerse yourself in the history of the people who once lived there by discovering old charcoal kilns, chestnut groves, drying sheds, and pastoral areas.
