The Race from Sand to Snow: Vibram Maremontana Running Park

Everyone, from athletes to enthusiasts, gathers in Loano for the Vibram Maremontana Trail – Memorial Cencin De Francesco. A packed schedule of events will set the stage for a competition that includes three trail races of 63 km, 46 km, and 20 km, and a non-competitive walk of 14 km. These races take place in a unique setting that attracts an increasing number of competitors and tourists from abroad. They are drawn by the uniqueness of the start and finish on the beach and the beauty of the mountain trails overlooking the breathtaking landscape of the Riviera delle Palme. The town of Loano, with its village overlooking the coast, its historic centre with narrow streets, and alleys, will host guided tours for families and visitors following the event from Saturday afternoon. Vibram Maremontana Running Park is a one-of-a-kind outdoor project in Italy that covers the territory of 15 municipalities in western Liguria. Currently, in the areas of Loano and Balestrino, the first 18 routes dedicated to Trail and Trekking, and 4 routes for E-Bikes are accessible. Routes in the areas of Ceriale, Boissano, and Toirano are currently in an advanced planning stage.

Everything is designed for different difficulty levels. The signage is uniform, with progressive numbering and colours that identify the level of difficulty. All the routes are circular, multiplying the possibilities of joining the path from different points without ever getting lost.

Planned routes that wind between the coastline and the hinterland, divided into 4 difficulty levels (urban – lover – trail – ultra).

Picturesque landscapes and breathtaking views dot every route, guiding tourists, athletes, trail runners, and ultra-trail runners on a continuous discovery of the territory.

Safe navigation with our real-time maps.

Our goals are:

  • Reclaiming and protecting the territory, with an eco-environmental mindset.
  • Promoting the hinterland, uncovering its unique qualities.
  • Reducing tourism seasonality thanks to a mild climate all year round.

Our challenge:

  • Generating interest in our territory.
  • Raising awareness about environmental respect and safety.
  • Creating clear and easy-to-follow routes.
  • Satisfying the quest for novelty and excitement.
  • Serving as a promotional drive even in the off-season.
