Kayak in Portofino: paddling with a view
Portofino and the Tigullio
Among the many travel modes available in Liguria, there is also sitting in a kayak, paddling in the middle of the sea. This is a way to travel along fantastic stretches of sea and get to know the Ligurian coastline with a decidedly unique view. It can be done all year round, given the mild climate, as kayak hauling points are everywhere in Liguria and there are numerous companies that rent kayaks. For those who want to paddle without too much effort, the Sup, the surf-type board, has taken off in recent years.

To reach Paraggi, the starting point, you must travel by car or bus (Amt) along road 227, the only road open to vehicles connecting the municipalities of Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino. Paraggi is also the name of one of the most beautiful small beaches in Liguria, behind which starts the Mulini Valley path, one of the most famous in the Portofino park.
Portofino
On your own or for beginners in the company of a kayak instructor and marine guide, you can paddle along the coast from Paraggi to the picturesque harbour of Portofino and on to Olivetta and the Lighthouse.
the lighthouse
Docking at the foot of the lighthouse or taking a refreshing dip in front of the breathtaking landscape is an experience not to be missed. The lighthouse is one of the symbols of Portofino and from here, a 10-minute walk takes you to the centre of the small square in the VIP village.
