Ligurian Alps Park – The villages
In the heart of the Ligurian Alps lie some of the most characteristic villages in Liguria, which the first Anglo-Saxon tourists of the late 19th century called 'rock villages'. Cosio d'Arroscia, Mendatica, Molini di Triora, Montegrosso Pian Latte, Pigna, Rezzo, Rocchetta Nervina and Triora are all worth a visit.

The small museum in Realdo, known as “a Ca' de Brigaschi”, boasts a rich collection of videos. A door to the Terra Brigasca territory.
The Nervia Valley
With the municipalities of Rocchetta Nervina and Pigna, it is the valley closest to the sea. Pigna owes its name to the enclosed shape of its village and is a place of enchantment, a town loved by artists and with a treasure trove of art: the famous Polyptych dedicated to the Archangel by Canavesio. Rocchetta Nervina is a fortified village, situated at the confluence of two impetuous mountain streams, crossed by two humpback bridges.
The history of Triora, the 'village of witches', is documented in the Ethnographic and Witchcraft Museum.
Argentina Valley
With the municipalities of Triora and Molini di Triora, it is an arduous valley with wild natural landscapes and villages built on ridges or rocky spurs. Triora is a beautiful village made famous by the witchcraft trial of 1587. For lovers of legends with a slightly mysterious flavour, a 'visit' to the Cabotina or witches' house is recommended.
For tasty and unique dishes, don't miss the White Cuisine Festival in Mendatica in August.
Arroscia Valley
More internal than all the others is the Alta Valle Arroscia, with the municipalities of Rezzo, Montegrosso Pian Latte, Mendatica and Cosio d'Arroscia. Mendatica, in particular, is a beautiful village, almost perched at the apex of the valley. Cosio D'Arroscia has an intact historic centre that conceals architectural treasures such as the late Baroque Oratorio dell'Assunta.
It is as precious as gold and unique in the world: Triora saffron grows on the sunny hills of the park in the Argentina valley.
How about food? You cannot miss the 'white cuisine'
Travelling behind the Riviera dei Fiori, climbing among ancient villages amidst the majestic peaks of the Ligurian Alps, offers the opportunity to savour again the fragrances and genuine ingredients of the so called 'white cuisine', an ethnic cuisine made of flour, dairy products and vegetables such as potatoes, turnips, leeks and garlic. Today, the cuisine of the great great grandparents has been rediscovered and local restaurants offer traditional dishes on the menu.
