Eating good fish is the norm: the most important fishermen's cooperatives in the East coast work here, and in Sestri Levante there are some exCelle townnt restaurants.

Barefoot in Baia del Silenzio

Walking along Via Byron, hold your breath and be taken aback by the fine sand in the “Bay of Silence”, a jewel of indescribable beauty, between boats and buildings that are reflected in the crystal clear sea. Climb up to the seventeenth century Capuchin Church to admire the peninsula that separates the village from the rocky headland on which the medieval Church of San Nicolò stands.

Every year in November, the kermis “Pane e Olio” (Bread and Oil) takes place to celebrate the olive harvest and the PDO extra virgin olive oil produced in the oil mills of the eastern area.

A fairytale holiday for every family

And for the children? Not only the beaches and the Baia delle Favole, or “Fairytails Bays”, but a festival for them, which takes place in late spring: dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen, the king of fairytales, who often stayed here.

Punta Manara is also famous for climbers. A 3b/7b+ crag, among the most beautiful in eastern Liguria. Incomparably beautiful wild place.

Punta Manara: 9 km of outdoor paths

One of the most beautiful excursions in the area departs from the hamlet, enchanting both from a landscape and naturalistic point of view: the ring of Punta Manara. A path, with sea views, between the Holm Oak, Pine and Strawberry trees: it is a well known destination for trekking and bikers.

In 2021, the last sailing leudo was lowered in the water again: the “God’s New Aid”, built in 1925. The leudo is a Latin sailboat that was used in Liguria to transport goods.

Riva Trigoso

A district, or rather two, worth a visit. For the beautiful beach and Descalzo seafront, as well as the tradition of the shipwrights (the Riva wooden fishing boat originated here) and the gastronomic tradition: this is the homeland of the 'Bagnun', a dish made with anchovies.
