Zoagli town

Zoagli town

Not only quiet and well-equipped beaches, but also historical and artistic trails, a fantastic pedestrian cliff and then unique paths such as that of the Cinque Campanili, and of course the sea: beautiful and loved by tourists since the 19th century, when illustrious guests visiting the Tigullio, such as Nietzsche, Pound and Kandinsky, chose to dive in front of Zoagli. Among the great people who have left their mark, one cannot but remember author, playwright, intellectual and poet Sem Benelli who had the beautiful castle - now dedicated to him - built in 1914.

On summer evenings, the small square in Zoagli comes alive and offers many shows and initiatives for young and old alike.

The pedestrian cliff

Zoagli is unique among seaside villages, with its terraces overlooking the Tigullio Gulf. This is where the pedestrian cliff, a pathway built right on the rocks, is topped by Canevaro Castle and offers an impressive view and a memorable walk. Also part of the relationship with the sea is the tradition of the Madonna del Mare, a bronze sculpture placed on the seabed.

Don't miss the rissëu of the church of San Martino di Zoagli. Like dry stone walls, the rissëu - mosaic paving with black and white pebbles) is a typical element of the Ligurian urban landscape.

The five steeples

A real treat is the historic/artistic route of the five steeples, so called because it links the five main churches of that coastal stretch.

Speaking of textiles, you can combine a visit to the silk factories with a visit to the Damask Museum in Lorsica, Val Fontanabuona.

The exCelle townnce of silk factories

The tradition of silk factories has made Zoagli known not only in Italy but throughout Europe. Zoagli was one of the most important manufacturers in the world, ready to elegantly enter aristocratic residences by furnishing the salons of kings, princes and the most illustrious families in Europe. Today, the Seterie di Zoagli still offer a collection of fabrics that exalts true Made in Italy. In the Zoagli showroom, located inside a villa with a unique view of Portofino, you will be fascinated by the quantity of fabrics, by the colours of the stoles, and the scarves printed with exclusive Cordani designs.
