On March 22nd, 2025 the Milan – Sanremo, the Classicissima returns to the panoramic Aurelia 

The Milan-Sanremo is called Classicissima. It is the iconic and most important event within the competitive calendar of international cycling races. In 2025 the Milan – Sanremo will be on Saturday the 22dn of March. It is a spring event: famous for the warm days and the panoramic views on the Ligurian coast.

The Classicissima in Liguria

Cyclists will enter Liguria from Genova Voltri, pass through Arenzano, Cogoleto, Varazze, Celle Ligure and Savona, and then tackle the curves of Malpasso near Finale Ligure and the three famous capes of Ponente Ligure, Capo Mele, Capo Cervo and Capo Berta, before encountering the legendary final climbs of Cipressa and Poggio and finishing on the historic finish line in the City of Flowers in via Roma, a stone’s throw from the Ciclabile Area 24, the beaches and the Casino of Sanremo.

History of cycling

The history of the Milan – Sanremo is the history of cycling. Memorable pages have been written on the curves of Liguria, on the climbs of Capo Mele and Berta, on the Cipressa, and finally on the Poggio. If you want to relive the feats of the champions you can pedal on the roads of the Classicissima, in the winter season it is not difficult to meet a professor who studies the route. The last Italian to win was Vincenzo Nibali in 2018.
