Madame Butterfly, the great opera at the Carlo Felice Theatre
From January 19th to January 27th, 2024, at the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa, Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Madame Butterfly” will be staged.
The tragedy revolves around the sweet and unfortunate Cio-Cio-San, known as Madame Butterfly, who is seduced and abandoned by Pinkerton, an American naval officer. The performance will take place at the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa from January 19th to 27th, 2024. It is a “Japanese Tragedy” in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, with a libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, adapted from David Belasco’s 1900 drama, which debuted in 1904.
This opera is impossible not to love due to the depth of its characters, the exotic atmosphere created by Puccini, and the extraordinary music. The famous pieces expressing Butterfly’s long wait and trust in her lover’s return, such as “Un bel dì vedremo” and the incredible closed-mouth chorus in the interlude of Act II, have made history in the world of music.
The Genoese Fabio Luisi is the conductor and orchestra director, with Claudio Marino Moretti as the chorus master. The performance also features the participation of the Ballet Foundation Training Dance and Show “For Dance” ETS. The staging is by the Carlo Felice Theatre.
