Saint Benedict in Taggia
Every year, on the last weekend of February, Taggia gets ready for the great challenge between the districts with a historical re-enactment.
The kermis, established in 1626 and dedicated to the patron Saint Benedict Revelli, has become an event.
The Taggese districts host some ‘historical pictures’ evoking moments of life in the middle of the 17th century in their most characteristic spaces.
The historical procession revives the procession of the memorable day of 1626 for the entire afternoon.
And time really does seem to stand still. During the exhibition, a jury examines the various environments reconstructed by the districts and rewards spectacularity as well as adherence to tradition and history. Only one group will be rewarded.
