Stella Maris

The Stella Maris, on sunday 3rd August 2025 in Camogli is one of the most striking and eagerly awaited events of the Ligurian summer

The festival is dedicated to a Madonna depiction as the patron saint of sailors, the Star of the Sea.

Every year, on the first Sunday in August, a morning cannon shot announces the departure of the Dragun, Camogli‘s historic pirate boat, followed by the spectators’ boats festively decorated for the occasion and carrying the parish priest to the altar of Stella Maris, located on Punta Chiappa.

In the evening, from the beach, one can watch the Dragun show and the canoes and kayaks, which follow it with a torch tied to the stern and which parade in the sea among the hundreds of coloured (biodegradable) candles that everyone can place in the water, thus creating a magical and mystical atmosphere at the same time.
