In Tellaro, one of the most enchanting Christmas traditions
An unforgettable event: the statue of the Baby Jesus emerging from the sea, carried by divers and placed in a manger set on a boat, with the glow of candlelights and fireworks. Once ashore, the priest receives the Christ Child from the divers, lifts him up to the sky, and presents him to the gathered crowd; at that moment, fireworks light up the sky in celebration of the birth. The statue is then returned to the divers, who carry it in a procession through the narrow alleys (caruggi) of Tellaro to the Parish Church, where the Holy Mass is celebrated.
