Dolcedo and Oil Valleys
Dolcedo and Oil Valleys
Dolcedo is a little treasure to be explored. Located in the heart of Val Prino, it is known as the Conca d’Oro (or, Gold Basin) because of the colour of the quality olive oil, which has long been enriched by this valley. This is the ideal place if you are seeking out the simple and authentic, especially in summer, when you can savour coolness and tranquility, seated in one of the restaurants in the area.

Starting from Prelà, you can take the road to the villages of Valloria, Tavola and Villatalla - true architectural and artistic surprises.
Simplicity and magnificence
Strolling along the pathways flanking the stream, admire the spectacular Ponte Grande with its magnificent pointed arch and gaze upon the building, witness to ancient splendours. You will be delighted by the baroque Church of San Tommaso, the work of Marvaldi housed in a small delightful courtyard. The interior is a triumph of gilded stucco applied to walls painted blue.
In Dolcedo, olive cultivation and oil production are a centuries old tradition, with the famous freshly pressed oil “Primoruggiu”, which means “first flow”
The Prino Valley between villages and ponds
In the surrounding area, be spoilt for choice. In this land of hot air balloons, of great beauty are the Ponds di Lecchiore, surrounded by greenery and a real relief from the August heat, Prelà with its mills, the stone bridge with two arches, the ancient Church of San Giovanni Battista del Groppo, the 12 pitches for playing Pétanque. Villatalla, Tavole and Valloria dominate the valley. Valloria is renowned for its wooden doors painted by artists hailing from all over the world and for the curious Museum of Forgotten Things.
Dry stone walls represent a cultural heritage of the Ligurian territory of inestimable value. This complex construction system makes it possible to cultivate an area overlooking the sea, with skilful terracing that offer unique landscapes
Treasures in the woods
If you are a lover of nature and hiking, around here you will find endless pathways through the woods and dry stone walls. Santa Marta, Madonna del Piano, Madonna dell’Acquasanta ... the sanctuaries are in abundance in these parts and all have one common feature, they are entirely immersed in nature.
