From 22 March to 13rd July 2025, Palazzo Ducale in Genoa will be paying tribute to Giorgio Griffa, a leading exponent of Italian art

Giorgio Griffa, “Painting the Invisible”, a monographic exhibition dedicated to one of the leading figures of 20th century Italian art, will open on 22 March 2025 to 13rd July 2025 in the Doge’s apartments at Palazzo Ducale, Genoa.

Giorgio Griffa

Giorgio Griffa, born in Turin in 1936, is a multifaceted artist who has explored pop art, minimalism and conceptual art, and has participated in three Venice Biennales. As one of the leading exponents of Italy’s art scene, he has set up an ongoing dialogue with the history and primary signs of painting (sign, pigment, canvas), his style ranging between American pop-art and conceptual art. In the late 1960s he joined the Sperone Gallery, where he came into contact with the artists of the Arte Povera movement. His work has traversed the ocean to the United States, where The New York Times has written that “his art deserves a place in the global history of abstraction”.
