Sciacchetrail 2025

The Sciacchetrail 2025 will take place on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of March 2025, on a trail run along the wine paths, a “vertical trekking” experience designed to discover the stunning landscape of the Cinque Terre.

Sciacchetrail is more than just a race. You can run it and challenge yourself amidst the extraordinary natural environment of the Cinque Terre National Park, you’ll also blend with a landscape where human activities have always intertwined with nature. The 10th edition of Sciacchetrail will be held from the 28th to 30th of March 2025.

The Course 2025

The race takes place along the world’s unique path through the Cinque Terre, an imaginary line that will connect wine, sanctuaries, villages, nature, and communities. It starts and finishes in Monterosso al Mare, crossing through the municipalities of Monterosso al Mare, Riomaggiore, and Vernazza. In addition to the traditional 47 km route in the Cinque Terre, there is a longer 100 km course that extends into the Val di Vara, providing a true test of strength and athleticism

A Unique Experience

Nearly 900 pre-registrations were received for the 300 available bibs. A quarter of the athletes are foreign, representing 28 different nationalities, with a notable female participation rate of 21%. The trail running hotspot of Europe, France, has 62 participants, along with 13 Germans and 12 British. Competitors from across the Americas will also participate, including athletes from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, and for the first time, Uruguay, Ecuador, and Venezuela. Australians return, and Japanese participants make their debut.

A Wine, A Territory

The stars of the day will be the paths and vineyards of Sciacchetrà, the passito wine, sweet and liqueur-like, produced in the Cinque Terre from the grapes of the Bosco, Albarola, and Vermentino vines. This wine has shaped the magnificent landscape, with terraced vineyards, dry stone walls, cröse (steep paths) climbing up the hills, and the centuries-old labour behind it. For the first time, participants will also explore the area just behind the Cinque Terre, the Val di Vara, with its nature and history.
