Sturla Valley Trekking, from Borzone to the Giacopiane Lakes
A weekend walking through history and nature, in Wonderland!Following paths through small villages, this route will lead us to discover fascinating and mysterious landmarks, such as the Abbey of Borzone, built on the border of the Byzantine lands, and the 7 metres high Megalithic Face of Borzone carved into the rock facing Mount Aiona, the many examples of Eulithic architecture of early medieval origin and the surprise hidden in the woods, the evocative Church of San Martino di Licciorno.And then the mountains begin, amidst alpine pastures and lodges, precious water sources and waterfalls, panoramic paths that descend from the pastures to the Giacopiane lakes, two artificial reservoirs perfectly integrated into the surrounding natural environment and which have become one of the main tourist destinations in the Sturla Valley, as well as a vantage point for herds of wild horses.
