Rossese di Dolceacqua

Rossese di Dolceacqua

Rossese di Dolceacqua boasts a bright ruby red colour that transitions to garnet with aging. On the nose, it unveils notes of redcurrant jam and candied black cherry. On the palate, it is warm and velvety, with a certain freshness and delicate tannins. During a visit to the Doria Castle, Napoleon Bonaparte was offered the local Rossese wine, which he enjoyed so much that he ordered a shipment of barrels to the Imperial Court in Paris.

Insights

Rossese di Dolceacqua pairs well with dishes such as rabbit with herbs, goat stew with beans, juniper-flavoured thrush, and braised kid. It is excellent with platters of cured meats and medium-aged cheeses, as well as with dry and stuffed pasta dishes. When aged, it also complements braised meats, hare in salmì, and snails.
