The Italian Open Water Tour Challenge: the swim around Italy kicks off in Genoa! Genoa (17 May), Camogli (19-20 July) and Noli (14 September 2025)

The 2025 Italian Open Water Tour Challenge consists of 12 legs in 7 different regions. Stroke after stroke, athletes will swim through Italy’s most beautiful seas and stretches of water, from the island of Vulcano to Gaeta and Peschiera del Garda.

Competitions

No less than three legs of the Italian Open Water Tour take place in Liguria: three open water competitions for professional and amateur athletes in settings rich in history and natural beauty. Three race modes are scheduled on each date: the Hard Swim (4,000 metres) and Smile Swim (1,852 metres, or one nautical mile) are individual races, while the Relay Swim is an Australian-style relay race in which teams of three will complete the half-mile circuit three times.

Trittico dei Caruggi: Genoa (17 May), Camogli (19-20 July) and Noli (14 September).

The Genoese swim, known as Traversata Crêuza de Mä, will take place on 19 May between Boccadasse, Priaruggia and Bagni San Nazaro, accompanied by music by the city’s cherished singer-songwriter, Fabrizio De André.
On 19-20 July, Camogli’s Traversata dal Paradiso will take in the marine protected area of San Fruttuoso, with its stunning abbey overlooking the sea.
On 14 September, the excitement moves to the typical Ligurian town of Noli, once the epicentre of an Italian maritime republic.
